Air Resistance
The children investigated how the size of a surface area effects the speed it travels through the air. The children had 2 pieces of paper, one scrumpled up and one flat. In their partners they dropped both pieces of paper from the same height and watched them fall to the ground. The children could clearly see that the scumpled up paper fell to the floor a lot faster than the flat piece of paper. The children concluded that the bigger the surface area the slower the object will travel through the air. This is because there is more space on the object for more air particles to hit the object, slowing it down.
